Our History

Trinity Nursery School and Kindergarten has been in operation since 1946. The school is located in the picturesque and historic Trinity Church, in the Forest Park District of Springfield. Over the years Trinity has maintained its commitment to providing the highest quality early childhood program to the children of Springfield and its surrounding communities. Despite the ever increasing trend towards year-round child care centers, Trinity has continued to operate as a preschool and kindergarten so that the children who attend our program are equipped with the tools needed to be successful in elementary school. Families that choose to send their children to Trinity have done so specifically in order to provide their children with a safe, nurturing, and positive first school experience, and have found that the school-based model is best for young children and their teachers.

Trinity is a school with a rich history that is dedicated to meeting the needs of young children in our community. We are proud to be a welcoming and inclusive organization focused on learning, growth, and change.  We are licensed by the Department of Early Education Care (DEEC).

Our Team

Maria Cloonan

Maria Cloonan

Director

Maria has been in the education field for 29 years. From an early age, she knew she wanted to have an impact on shaping young minds.  Six years ago, Maria made a change and brought her knowledge and experience to the Director’s position at Trinity. Her love for children and families is what sets her apart from most. In Maria’s spare time she enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with family and friends at home and Cape Cod.
Robin Granado-Cross

Robin Granado-Cross

Teacher

Robin has been working in education for 5+ years. She has a degree in Criminal Justice but realized that her passion was in a field where she could teach the young to love learning and help provide a beginning structure into their future. Her philosophy is that the classroom is not hers but her students. I am not to mold them into the learner I want them to be but rather they mold me into what kind of the learner they are. Outside of teaching, Robin spends most of her free time sitting on the sideline cheering her husband and children on in soccer, hockey, baseball, and swimming. She also enjoys hiking, camping, traveling and gluten-free cupcakes.
Sandy Fratamico

Sandy Fratamico

Teacher

Sandy has been in the teaching field for over 40 years. After working in many diverse centers and opening up her own home daycare, she quickly developed a love for social interactions among young children. Sandy always says “social development is the key to success in this world” and that is her favorite aspect of working with preschool-aged children. She takes great pride in shaping the minds of young students. When Sandy is not working in the classroom, she loves to read, travel to Rockport and volunteer for church functions.
Alison Bates

Alison Bates

Teacher

Alison has been teaching preschool for the last 4 years. At first, she began her college education as a nursing major but quickly realized she had a passion for teaching. Her passion for teaching stems from her love of dance. Alison taught dance for over 10 years in all age ranges and dance styles. She loved using her creative abilities to allow children to express themselves through music and movement, which is now her favorite aspect of teaching in the classroom setting. When Ali is not at school teaching, you can find her shopping, spending time with a fellow teacher and younger sister Madi or playing with her cat, Pumpkin.
Kelsey McRobbie

Kelsey McRobbie

Teacher

Even at a young age, Kelsey knew she wanted to become a teacher. If she wasn’t pretending to teach her stuffed animals, she was assigning her cousin’s homework over summer vacation. She has always had a passion for education but never knew what grade she wanted to focus on. 5 years ago Kelsey came to observe a classroom at Trinity and she knew right away preschool was where she was meant to be. She has been teaching in Group 1 for 4 years and she couldn’t enjoy it more. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, shopping, and loves to eat.
Madison Bates

Madison Bates

Teacher

Madison has been working at Trinity Nursery School and Kindergarten for the past 2 years. As a new educator, she has developed a love for teaching. Teaching independently in her own classroom has allowed her to connect emotionally with all of her students on a personal level. She loves to play one-on-one with students, whether it’s with playdoh, dramatic play or small group educational activities. Outside of working at Trinity, Madi loves to eat out at different restaurants, go sneaker shopping and dancing.
